The NASA ASAP is planning to release the CSL Part II soon. The CSL Part II contains detailed information on microcircuit, hybrid and semiconductor manufacturers qualified by European Space Agency (ESA) and National Space Development Agency of Japan (NASDA). These manufacturers have compiled a satisfactory history of supplying high reliability parts to the ESA or NASDA specifications.
The primary purpose of the CSL Part II is to capture information on reliable manufacturers of active parts on a global basis. The information gathered in CSL Part II will help project managers, parts reliability engineers and designers working on International Projects, achieve mission schedules effectively without sacrificing part quality and reliability. The CSL Part II also lists information regarding the U.S. based microcircuit, hybrid and semiconductor parts manufacturers to be considered. The part types supplied by these manufacturers will be included into the NASA EEE Parts Selection List (NPSL) and not into the CSL Part II as reported earlier in the July issue of the EEE Links. The Electronic Packaging and Processes Branch is in the process of developing the new NPSL on-line version of the NASA Parts List (formerly MIL-STD-975).
The CSL Part II has completed the coordination cycle and comments are being reviewed for incorporation into the document. An official copy will be available for release the first quarter of FY97.
