Well, it's been an exciting time at the NASA Training Center since the last article. First there is a new look to the CCH classroom. Second there is a new course being offered. Third there are two new courses nearing completion.

The new look in the CCH classroom consists of laboratory grade cabinets with sink and a six foot fume hood. This provides us with additional storage and bench top surface. The fume hood allows us to use training techniques that require moderate chemical processing.

A new class is being offered. It is a four hour addendum to the Hand Soldering class to present the material in chapter 9 of NTS 8739.(3A-2) entitled "Automatic Wave Soldering". This class will introduce the student to basic concepts of wave soldering, and proper process controls that must be in place.

The first dry run for a class on Fiber Optic Termination's has been completed. This class teaches the students how to properly terminate optical fiber and test the completed assemblies in accordance with NTS 8739.(3N) "Draft 6". In March we will give the first dry run for the Polymerics Applications course. This course will instruct students in mixing, spray coating, staking, and bonding in accordance with the new NTS 8739.(3J-1) "Workmanship Standard for Staking and Conformal Coating of Printed Wiring Boards and Electronic Assemblies"
