Call For Papers – Abstracts Due May 22, 2009

Initiated in 1998, Military/Aerospace Programmable Logic Device (MAPLD) has addressed the unique issues surrounding the use of PLDs for military/aerospace applications that must operate with a high degree of reliability, often in harsh environments. The MAPLD 2009 workshop will be held at the NASA Goddard Space Flight Center in Greenbelt, MD from August 31 - September 3, 2009, beginning with a full day of seminars. Presentations relating to the use of PLDs for military/aerospace applications are invited, and will be considered for either oral presentation (20 minutes plus 5 minutes for questions) or inclusion in a poster session. Topics of interest include (but are not limited to):

  • PLD Devices and Architectures
  • Military/Aerospace Applications of PLDs
  • PLD Support Devices and Architectures
  • Radiation Effects in PLDs
  • Radiation Hardening and Mitigation for PLDs
  • Reliability of PLD Devices
  • Design Validation and Verification
  • Reconfigurable Computing Platforms, Development Tools, and Applications
  • PLD-Based System-On-a-Chip (SOC) Designs for Military/Aerospace Applications
  • Power Optimization for PLD designs
  • Design Tools for FPGA Applications

Submission Deadlines

Deadline for submission of Abstracts: May 22, 2009
Notification of Presentation and Poster Acceptances: June 15, 2009
Deadline for submission of full Papers and Posters: August 15, 2009
Opening of MAPLD 2009 Conference: August 31, 2009

Abstract Submission Process

Abstracts should be 250-500 words in length and must be submitted via the abstract submission page (http://nepp.nasa.gov/mapld_2009/abstracts.cfm) on the MAPLD website by May 22, 2009. This page will prompt the author for (a) name, (b) presentation title, (c) relevant workshop topics, (d) organization or agency, (e) address, (f) country, (g) telephone number, and (h) email address. The author can then upload the 250–500 word abstract in doc, pdf, or ppt format.

All abstracts will be reviewed by the MAPLD 2009 Workshop Program Committee, which will then make selections for the workshop oral sessions as well as the poster session. Abstracts should synopsize the planned content for a 20 minute presentation. Sufficient detail should be provided to allow the Program Committee to judge its applicability to the MAPLD Workshop and select the appropriate session. Each author will be notified by email of their selection status by June 15, 2009. Authors of selected abstracts will also be notified of the session (oral or poster) for which they have been selected, and provided instructions for uploading their presentations (by August 15, 2009).

Regarding Copyrights, Technology Transfer, and Proprietary Information

Obtaining proper clearance for release of information in abstracts and presentations is solely the responsibility of the author. All submitted materials must be free of any copyright restrictions and/or markings. For each presentation, a signed release form will be required by August 15, 2009 stating that the author has obtained proper authorization to freely distribute their submitted presentations in the public domain (both within the United States and internationally).
