This section of the NASA Metal Whisker WWW Site is being constructed to provide examples of the phenomenon of metal "DENDRITE" formation.  Unfortunately, the terms "dendrites" and "whiskers" are sometimes used interchangeably.  In fact, the morphology and mechanisms of formation are distinctly different for metal whiskers and dendrites.
