Conclusions

Does Uralane conformal coating inhibit whisker formation, or trap whiskers within it? Nodules are formed even under the conformal coated side, however none of the whiskers under the conformal coat have broken through the coating surface as of 8/10/00. However, coating slows down the whisker growth.

Does a tin whisker growing from one surface towards a coated surface penetrate that coating, to contact the underlying metal and create plasma arc? It was estimated that the whisker would buckle before penetrating the coating on an adjacent surface.
