Jonathan "Jonny" Pellish, Ph.D.

In May 2024, Dr. Jonny Pellish returned to NASA following an assignment on the U.S. National Space Council as the Director of Civil Space Policy. In this role, Jonny was responsible for advising the Council's Executive Secretary, the Vice President in her role as the Council's Chair, and the President on development of national policies and strategies for the civil space sector. He was also charged with overseeing the implementation of these policies and strategies, working across the U.S. Government as well as with academic, industrial, and international partners to meet Administration objectives.

Prior to the National Space Council, Dr. Pellish served as a fellow on the U.S. Senate Committee on Commerce, Science, and Transportation to negotiate and pass the CHIPS and Science Act. A NASA engineer since 2008, Jonny spent most of his career focused on space microelectronics and radiation effects on electrical systems before adding policy concentrations.

Dr. Pellish received his B.S. in physics, M.S. in electrical engineering, and Ph.D. in electrical engineering from Vanderbilt University. Jonny has authored or co-authored over 80 refereed publications and conference proceedings and delivered numerous public presentations on aerospace microelectronics and leading policy topics. He is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers and a Member of the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics.
