Lead Damage From Bending Tool

7. Components:  Lead damaged due to incorrect bending tool-process

Incorrect bending tool/process was used causing nicks which resulted in crack formation. Flat nosed type plyers were used in place of rounded plyers. This type of crack in lead is difficult to detect even at magnification under scope at 4x-10x

Reference :
NASA-STD-8739.3 paragraph 6.6.4 Bending Tools
Tools used for conductor bending may be automatic or hand operated and shall be of a material that will not cut, nick, or otherwise damage solid or stranded conductors or insulation during the bending operation
