S-311-M-70, Destructive Physical Analysis

The purpose of this document is to establish, in conjunction with MIL-STD-1580, the GSFC-specific requirements for the performance and assessment of Destructive Physical Analysis (DPA) results. DPA is performed to assess the workmanship quality of parts selected for use in high reliability applications. S-311-M-70 generally follows the performance requirements of MIL-STD-1580, with some important exceptions; S-311-M-70 allows for a reduced sample size, based on small lot procurements, and provides a different accept/reject criteria for MIL-STD-1580, Requirement 9, Prohibited Materials Analysis.
